Roboticist’s Apprentice: Program and Drive Robots

What do you get when you mix engineering, computer science, and math? A robot. In this apprentice program, students will work with University of Michigan’s Edwin Olson to program and drive a robot through obstacles and mazes.

Ages: 8+

Parents: This is a drop-off program for children. There is a waiting area nearby.

Edwin OlsonRoboticist

Edwin Olson is an assistant professor of computer science and engineering at the University of Michigan. His research focuses on autonomous robots, ranging from self-driving cars to teams of robots that work together to perform search and rescue missions. He received a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2008 for his work in robust robot mapping.
