Sheila Nirenberg
Sheila Nirenberg develops neuroprosthetics that interact directly with the brain—including ones to treat blindness—but she also works on building new kinds of robots. Her honors include a Beckman Young Investigator Award, a Klingenstein Fellowship, a Frontiers of Science award, and a Stein Oppenheimer award. She was chosen as a MacArthur Fellow in 2013 and currently serves as a professor of physiology and biophysics at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. She holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University in neuroscience and has delved into both molecular biology and computational neuroscience.
