Paul Bingham
After receiving a Ph.D. in biochemistry and molecular biology from Harvard, Paul Bingham spent two years at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Research Triangle Park. He later joined the faculty of the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University, where he has been for the past 33 years. Bingham’s contributions include fundamental discoveries in the basic molecular biology of multicellular animals and new approaches to cancer chemotherapy. He has also worked on the human uniqueness problem for over 25 years, culminating in the development of a powerful general theory of human origins, properties, and history (social coercion theory) in collaboration with psychologist/biologist Joanne Souza and economist/game theorist Daijiro Okada. Bingham coauthored Death from a Distance and the Birth of a Humane Universe with Joanne Souza.
