P. Hunter Peckham
Hunter Peckham works on functional electrical stimulation, a method to restore limb control in paralyzed individuals. The technique uses implantable neural prostheses to control the muscles. Peckham is the founding director of the Institute for Functional Restoration and was founding director of the Functional Electrical Stimulation Center of Excellence. He also serves as co-director of the MetroHealth Rehabilitation Institute. A holder of eight patents, he is a member of multiple councils, a fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering, and a professor of biomedical engineering at Case Western Reserve University in Ohio.
