Oren Harman

Oren Harman was born in Jerusalem and was dubbed “the little Israeli magician” by New York Newsday for his exploits as a soccer player in the Little Leagues in the mid-eighties. He trained in history and biology at Oxford and Harvard and became a renowned professor of the history of science. His book, The Price of Altruism, won the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, was a New York Times Notable Book of the Year, and has inspired two plays and a RADIOLAB episode. Harman lives in Tel Aviv with his wife and two children, and sings in the municipal chamber choir. He is the Chair of the Program in Science Technology and Society at Bar Ilan University and a Senior Fellow at the Van Leer Institute. His book, Evolutions: Fifteen Myths That Explain Our World, will be released by Farrar, Straus and Giroux this summer.
