Luciano Floridi
Luciano Floridi is one of Italy’s most influential thinkers in the area of philosophy science, technology, and ethics, and is best known as the founder of two major areas of research, Information Ethics and the Philosophy of Information. Dr. Floridi is the first philosopher elected Gauss Professor by the Göttingen Academy of Sciences. In 2009, the American Philosophical Association awarded him the Barwise Prize, in recognition of his research on the philosophy of information and he was elected Fellow of the Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour. He is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Hertfordshire, where he holds the Research Chair in Philosophy of Information and UNESCO Chair of Information and Computer Ethics. In addition, he is Fellow of St Cross College at University of Oxford. In addition, Dr. Floridi is the founder and director of IEG, Oxford University Information Ethics research Group and GPI, the University of Hertfordshire research Group in Philosophy of Information. In 2010, he was appointed Editor-in-Chief of Philosophy and Technology.
