Joshua Knobe

Experimental Philosopher

Joshua Knobe is a professor at Yale University, appointed in both the Program in Cognitive Science and the Department of Philosophy. Most of his work involves using the kinds of experimental methods associated with cognitive science to address the kinds of questions associated with philosophy. Above all, he has explored the ways in which people’s moral judgments influence their intuitions about questions that might at first appear to be entirely factual or non-moral. Knobe has numerous publications both in psychology and in philosophy, and his work has been featured in The New York Times, Scientific American, and the BBC.
