Jeremy Niven
Jeremy Niven’s research focuses on the interface between neuroscience, behavior and evolutionary biology in the insect nervous system. By studying the behaviors and nervous systems of insects in the laboratory and in the field and making comparisons between closely related species, his work aims to determine which factors shaped the evolution of nervous systems. Much of his work addresses how insects can produce sophisticated behaviors with such small brains.
Dr. Niven is a Royal Society University Research Fellow, in the Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge, UK. In addition, he is also a member of the Laboratory of Evolutionary Neuroscience in the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute, Panama.
