Jens Ludwig
Jens Ludwig is the Edwin A. and Betty L. Bergman Distinguished Service Professor of Public Policy at the University of Chicago, director of the University of Chicago Crime Lab, and an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine. He founded the Crime Lab 10 years ago to use the tools of data science, behavioral science, and social science to help cities reduce the harms from crime and examine the administration of the criminal justice system itself. Crime Lab research has helped guide policy decisions in major cities like Chicago and New York, has been published in leading peer-reviewed scientific journals like Science and the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and has been featured in national news outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR, and PBS News Hour.
