Jan L. Plass
Jan L. Plass, Ph.D., is the Paulette Goddard Chair of Digital Media and Learning Sciences, Professor in the Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development at New York University, and he co-directs the Games for Learning Institute. Dr. Plass is also the founding director of the CREATE Consortium for Research and Evaluation of Advanced Technology in Education and directs the programs in Educational Communication and Technology at NYU MAGNET. His research is at the intersection of cognitive science, learning sciences, and design, and seeks to enhance the effectiveness of interactive visual environments for learning. His current focus is on studying cognitive, social, and emotional design patterns for simulations and games for learning math, science, and economics, and games for cognitive skills development (brain training). Dr. Plass frequently presents his work nationally and internationally and helps companies improve the impact of their products by applying validated design principles.
