Emily Balcetis

Social Psychologist

Emily Balcetis is an Associate Professor of Psychology at New York University. She studies how our motivations, emotions, and goals can shape, and even can change our visual perception. Her current work focuses on how video evidence can bias jury members differently and how our vision can work against us when it comes to effective exercising. Her research has been covered by Forbes, Newsweek, Time, Cosmopolitan, Scientific American, and The Atlantic. Her TED talk Why some people find exercise harder than others has surpassed 4 million views worldwide. Emily is the author of Clearer, Closer, Better: How Successful People See the World.
