Daniel Harlow

Theoretical Physicist

Daniel Harlow is a theoretical physicist and professor at MIT, recognized for his work in quantum gravity, black hole physics, and quantum information theory. He is known for linking quantum error correction to the structure of spacetime and for the Harlow-Hayden conjecture, which argues that some tasks in quantum black hole physics are computationally infeasible. In 2019, he won the New Horizons in Physics Prize, part of the Breakthrough Prize series, for his contributions to quantum information, quantum field theory, and gravity. Harlow’s work provides key insights into the emergent nature of spacetime and the fundamental connections between quantum mechanics and general relativity, making him a leading figure in theoretical physics.
