Conor Liston
Conor Liston is a neuroscientist and psychiatrist at Weill Cornell Medical College, and his laboratory operates at the interface between these two fields. He leads a team of scientists who are working to advance our understanding of how brain circuits support learning, memory, and motivation, and how these processes are disrupted in depression, autism, and other neuropsychiatric illnesses. To this end, their experiments integrate a variety of new technologies for visualizing and manipulating activity in specific brain circuits. As a psychiatrist specializing in the treatment of complex mood disorders, his long-term goal is to translate these discoveries into new strategies for diagnosing and treating depression and other forms of mental illness. A 2002 graduate of Harvard College, he received his medical and doctoral degrees from Weill Cornell and The Rockefeller University, followed by psychiatry residency training and postdoctoral research fellowships at New York University and Stanford University.
