Chiara M. F. Mingarelli
Dr. Chiara M. F. Mingarelli is an assistant professor at Yale University, and a gravitational-wave astrophysicist. She is best known for predicting the gravitational wave signatures of the cosmic population of supermassive black holes in binary systems. With her semi-analytic computational models she predicts which galaxies can host supermassive black hole binary systems, and what the expected signature is of the cosmic merger history of these binaries. This is the long sought-after “gravitational wave background” which was just found by pulsar timing experiments like NANOGrav. Dr. Mingarelli is a full member of NANOGrav and has actively participated in the development of pulsar timing array experiments since 2010.
