The 2019 World Science Festival featured 60+ events, gathering great minds in science and art throughout New York City. We celebrated the 100th anniversary of the astronomical observations that confirmed Einstein’s General Theory of Relativity with the powerful theatrical experience, Light Falls. Over 150 participants tackled some of science’s toughest questions through eye-opening discussions, vibrant debates, mind-expanding explorations, insightful films, hands-on experiments, and outdoor events. We sat down to discuss the promise and perils of CRISPR with its co-discoverer and got up-close with an American legend and Apollo 11 Astronaut. NASA scientists took the stage to discuss traveling to Mars and we shed new light on black holes. Girls had the chance to tour women-run labs, and working biologists counted fish throughout the New York waterways. We explored the richness of time, the reality of reality, the intelligence of animals, and so much more.
All of this was made possible thanks to a long list of incredible World Science Festival partners, sponsors, members, participants, and volunteers, and the incredible community of people who joined us in person in New York and online around the globe. Thank you!
