K. Birgitta Whaley
Birgitta Whaley is Professor of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley, co-Director of the Berkeley Quantum Information and Computation Center, and Faculty Scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Author of over 220 scientific publications, her research focuses on quantum information, quantum computation, macroscopic quantum systems, and quantum control/simulation. Whaley is a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and recipient of awards from Bergmann, Sloan, Alexander von Humboldt Foundations, as well as senior Fellowships at the Miller Institute (Berkeley) and the Institute for Advanced Studies in Berlin. She has served as chair of the Topical Group in Quantum Information and the Division of Chemical Physics at APS, on advisory committees for the National Academy of Sciences, the US National Laboratories, Centers in Quantum Information Science and Technology in Australia, and on Advisory Boards for the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics and for the Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics.
