What Makes It Music?

Why do we classify some sounds as music and others as noise? Some intervals, such as the octave, seem universally aesthetically appealing. However, most elements of music we find appealing are culturally learned. Experimental musicians Polygraph Lounge demonstrate how innovative music is initially perceived as “just sound” until a select few begin to analyze and understand how it speaks to us on a fundamental level.
