What Biodiversity Really Means
About This Video
At the present rate of extinction, some biologists predict that we could lose half of the species on the planet by 2100. Every individual’s very existence, every single day, is fueled by the plant and animal diversity on Earth. However, this is not always obvious, especially for those of us living in concrete “jungles,” far removed from clear examples of biodiversity. Here, evolutionary biologist Edward O. Wilson explains what the loss of biodiversity means for our own existence on Earth, and what we can do to improve our outlook.
