The SETI Institute has been listening intently for signs of extra-terrestrial intelligence since 1960. They do so using radio telescopes all over the world. While they haven’t found anything yet, astronomer Jill Tarter responds with an apt analogy to describe exactly how much work SETI has cut out for it.
